Mission

The mission of Second City Curling is to promote and grow the sport of curling in Northern Illinois, focusing on providing area youth with educational and experiential opportunities that connect them to the future of curling.

Board Meetings

Our board meetings are open to the public and held on a monthly basis at the Chicago Curling Club at 555 Dundee Road, Northbrook, IL.

The next meeting is Monday, October 4th at 7 pm.

Minutes from previous board meetings are available here.

Who Are We?

The board of Second City Curling is a group of dedicated curlers with over 50 years of curling experience. They have a passion for the sport and experience teaching new curlers. Perhaps most importantly, they understand that having fun is one of the most important aspects of curling, and encourage all of their participants to find joy in a sport they love.

Adam is a high school theatre and English teacher and lover of the sport of curling. He joined the Chicago Curling Club on a whim after watching the sport at the Olympics, and has found not only a passion in the community and camaraderie of the sport itself, but he fell in love with a fellow curler, Sara Gaum. They got married at the Chicago Curling Club on July 4, 2015.

Karrie started her curling career at a young age, after her parents joined the Chicago Curling Club in 1975. Junior Curling instantly bonded her to the sport and the family affair continues to this day, as Karrie can be found on the ice with her mother, sister, husband and three children. She holds dear the deep traditions of curling, cherishes the community it creates across the globe and looks forward to connecting more youth to the future of this tremendous sport.

Steve is a senior executive for a local plastics company. He joined the curling community in 2013 after much prodding by his significant other. Steve has come to love the sport as it provides great exercise, fun competition at his advanced age, and the comradery of the membership. Steve enjoys working as an instructor for the Learn to Curl Events, meeting prospective curlers, and getting them excited about the sport. His most significant curling moment was having his legs, lower torso, and broom appear in a 2018 WGN TV News segment spotlighting the Chicago Curling Club.
